No homework! Keep those spelling lists for next week. You can start early if you'd like. (:

Also, there is no school this Wednesday through Sunday. See you Monday!

I'm thankful for each of my students and all the wonderful parents I've had the opportunity to meet! Have a spectacular break!

Due 11/20: 100 subtraction math facts.

Please sign the finished assignment that your child brings home as well. In it they should have answered these four questions about the actions of students in class: What is an action you don't like (don't use names)? What is something you can do to improve? What is something that another student in class does well (please use another student's name)? What is something that you do well? Please help your student if they don't quite have the idea. Thanks!

If your student has been consistent in turning in a reading log of 70 minutes or more per week, I also sent them home with a coupon for a free one topping personal pan pizza. Good job readers!

Even though we have vacation starting Wednesday, remind your students how important it is to be a caring and respectful learner over the next 3 school days!

addition worksheet due 11/18 (100 problems)

This month we are emphasizing responsibility as one of the 6 traits of good character. Talk with your child about why it's so important to help your family, to be dependable, to take care of our things, and to be a positive leader. Our class has many responsible students who do their jobs: schoolwork, homework, chores, and following directions in class. Find some time to reward them for the small things they do responsibly. Every good choice adds up!

Have a wonderful evening!

due 11/19, but do nightly: My Responsibilities worksheet.
Also, please don't forget to bring in 2 cans of corn by Friday. We are quite short of our need.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Homework for those who didn't focus in class: Read a book. Fill out your graphic organizer. On the back, fill out another graphic organizer with ideas for your own book. Write a full page book. Edit your book. Illustrate your book (due Thursday). If your child did not bring this homework home, they probably finished the assignment with the rest of us in class. Yay!!! Otherwise, they will do it in recess on Thursday.

No school Wednesday! See you Thursday!

Please bring 2 cans of corn to class Thursday or Friday. If you have it, I would highly appreciate a nice can opener (to borrow), a ladel (to borrow), and a crock pot (a note that I can borrow it for the Thanksgiving feast will be sufficient). Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

homework due 11/4: Contractions worksheet pgs. 60-61

Thank you for all the school spirit during Harvest Festival! We had a huge turn out, lots of volunteering, and tons of candy! My family definitely had fun!

When you're out in the world with your children, ask them to look for contractions. They should be able to tell you what words those contractions were made from. You could compete for the most contractions found in a day. Have fun!
